Mr. Simmons practices in the fields of estate planning, trusts, and probate law. He is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

His work includes preparation of wills, trust agreements, and other estate planning documents for clients with taxable and non-taxable estates. Mr. Simmons structures practical estate planning solutions for complex client circumstances to achieve his client’s underlying objectives in a tax efficient manner. His practice areas include generation skipping planning, charitable and business succession planning, and planning with irrevocable trusts. He also prepares sophisticated federal gift and estate tax returns.

Mr. Simmons has created a number of charitable entities, including private foundations and obtained recognition of their charitable tax status by the Internal Revenue Service.

While at Loyola Law School, Mr. Simmons received the American Jurisprudence Award in the course on Trusts and the Loyola Certificate of Merit in the course on Successions. While attending the University of San Diego Law School summer program in Paris, France, where he completed courses on International Taxation and International Antitrust Law.  In 2021, Mr. Simmons was named by D Magazine as one of Dallas’s best trusts and estates lawyers.
