About
Eric Roberson focuses his practice on representing employees and employers in labor and employment disputes. Mr. Roberson’s cases involve matters filed in federal and state courts, the Department of Labor Office of Administrative Law Judges, and various arbitration agencies and panels. Mr. Roberson also represents businesses and individuals in breach of contract and fraud matters in state and federal courts.
A significant portion of Mr. Roberson’s practice is representing whistleblowers who are alleging wrongful termination after reporting illegal or unsafe practices, as well as providing a wide range of contingency fee representation for labor and employment and
breach of contract matters.
A formal naval flight officer with 148 aircraft carrier landings in A-6E Intruder aircraft, Mr. Roberson is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield and served in Attack Squadron 196, Carrier Air Wing 14, aboard the USS Independence (CV-62).
Representative Experience
- Obtained a $965,000 jury verdict in a Texas Whistleblower Act case filed for anb assistant chief of police who reported the criminal conduct of a city employee.
- Obtained a $615,000 public settlement for two police officers under the First Amendment who reported an illegal ticket quota to their City Council.
- Successfully defended the largest privately held oil company in America in $20 million class action breach of contract jury trial.
- Successfully defended a mid-sized sporting goods manufacturer in a jury trial for international fraud.
- Obtained a class action settlement containing the complete return of unpaid funds for firefighters for whose retirement fund had been underpaid by their Fire Chief (who was subsequently convicted on federal theft and embezzlement charges).
- Obtained a $3.9 million jury verdict for two managers of a municipal electric utility in a Texas Whistleblower Act case (reversed on appeal when the Texas Supreme Court reversed prior appellate court cases interpreting the TWA).
- Obtained successful settlements for various employees claiming wrongful discharge under Chapter 21 of the Texas Labor Code, Title VII, the FMLA, the ADEA, the ADA, Workers Compensation Retaliation, the First Amendment, federal and state worker safety whistleblower laws, and other state and federal employment laws.
- Conducted numerous investigations for employers related to industrial accidents, alleged employee misconduct, and claims of sexual harassment.
- Taught hundreds of managers sexual harassment prevention and lawful hiring and firing techniques from a capitalistic perspective, focusing on best practices to increase efficiency, increase worker satisfaction, decrease turnover and related expenses, and decrease risk of litigation.
